The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and care for it. But the Lord God gave him this warning: “You may freely eat any fruit in the garden except fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat of its fruit, you will surely die” (Genesis 2:15-17).
The Garden of Eden was a perfect environment. It was an idea situation for man to enjoy the rest of his life living in harmony with God. A place God made for man’s pleasure. But that didn’t last long because something happened that would change our life forever.
What was it? Was it temptation? Is temptation the reason we live today with illness and is it the cause of our worries?
We often blame temptation and the devil for our problems, situations and circumstances. But for every situations you find yourself in you had a choice in the matter. You may not had chosen what happened but you choose the way you responded or reacted.
God gives us mercy, favor, and grace. He also gives us the freedom of choice. It was one of the first things He gave to man. But because Adam and Eve didn’t practice their free-will wisely, today we all live with sin and death. Life or death comes down to the choices we make that’s why it’s important for us to make wise ones. Not only does our spiritual, mental and emotional well-being depends on it, but our lives and the lives of our children depends on it as well.
“Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between prosperity and disaster, between life and death. I have commanded you today to love the LORD your God and to keep his commands, laws, and regulations by walking in his ways. If you do this, you will live and become a great nation, and the LORD your God will bless you and the land you are about to enter and occupy. But if your heart turns away and you refuse to listen, and if you are drawn away to serve and worship other gods, then I warn you now that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live a long, good life in the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy. Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessing and curses. I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, that you and your descendants might live!” (Deuteronomy 30:15-19)
It really don’t get any clearer than that. Choosing God’s way leads to a joyful life on earth and an eternal life with Him. On the other hand, choosing other gods (like yourself, money or career) leads to disaster and death. Knowing these consequences should help you make the right choice. God leave the choice up to you.
In the scripture above twice it reads… Today I am/have giving you a choice.
Right NOW at this very moment God is opening the door and inviting you to choose life. Right NOW He’s giving you the opportunity to repent and give your life to Him. Right NOW He’s giving you, through this post, a chance to live and a chance for your children to live. Oh, how He so desperately wants you to choose life!
Let us pray…
Heavenly Father someone right now who’s reading this want to change their life and live but don’t know how. They believe the things they have done is too much for you to forgive. God help them to forgive themselves first. Then help them to believe that you are a God of second, third and fourth chances. Help them to believe that no matter what they have done you love them and desire that they give their life to you. God you said in your word that today you are giving them a chance to live. A chance to choose life over death. I believe you and I thank you in advance for the souls that will be saved because of your living power. Amen!
Did you know that not deciding is deciding? Also did you know procrastinating to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior is in actuality not accepting Him? We make decisions everyday and think nothing of it. Some decide to sit in front of the TV for hours doing noting and wonder why their life haven’t changed. They wonder why they haven’t lost weight or gotten that career job they always wanted. Watching television isn’t their problem it’s the doing nothing part that is.
See there’s a different between making a decision and making a choice. (Tweet this)
When you make a decision you’re deciding based on what you believe. For example, at the end of last year many people decided to make a New Year’s resolution because they may believe it’s the right thing to do or that they needed a change. They could have even purchased a membership to a fitness center. But study shows nine days later they usually quit. Why? Because it was a decision and with decisions your feeling are involved so if you don’t feel like doing it anymore you don’t. When someone makes a choice there’s action involved but not the kind of action when making a decision.
Decision actions comes from self-will. It’s a mental will-power than anything else and that’s why people get stuck when making decisions. Because they are trying to make sense out of something that doesn’t require making sense. On the other hand, a choice requires action also but here’s the kicker…IT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT YOU BELIEVE OR WHAT YOU FEEL. You can choose to believe in GOD or not but the outcome has been made. GOD IS GOD. That’s why God said choose life or death and not decide life or death.
Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you. (Psalm 37:5)
“Look! Here I stand at the door and knocks. if you hear me calling and open the door, I will come in, and will share a meal as friends.” (Revelation 3:20)
When you make a wise choice God will help you.(Tweet this) People hear God telling them what to do but they don’t corporate because they choose not to open the door to let Him into their heart. God tells you to wisely choose life today while Satan tells you to decide later and wait until tomorrow. But what if Jesus returned today would you be ready?
Here are God’s wise choices for your chance to live:
Choose To Let God Into Your Heart.
Let the words of Christ, in all their richness, live in your hearts and make you wise. Use his words to teach and counsel each other (Colossians 3:16).
The wise thing you can do is let God into your heart and allow Him to teach you and guide you. There is only one way to do this and it’s by being honest with yourself and God. In other words… CONFESS YOUR SINS. God is a God of truth so be honest with how you feel, think and act. If you don’t believe in God, tell Him. He knows your heart anyway so learn to tell on yourself. Those secrets you said you’ll never tell anyone about confess them out loud to Him. This will not only free you but it will begin the healing process of your spirit. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed (James 5:16).
Choose Happiness By Paying Attention To What You’re Focused On
Whatever you focus on you give it power over you. It becomes the driving force in your life. For example, if you focus on your career more than your family than your family will be second to your career. And if you focus on your past more than the present you would never find happiness because happiness is in the NOW.
Did you know that happiness can be found in every situation if you understand God is in control? And did you know no matter how bad you’re feeling if you start focusing on positive things your feeling will change? By paying close attention to your focus you can enjoy peace and joy everyday.
Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and heard from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you (Philippians 4:8-9).
Choose Acceptance More Than Trying To Change Everything
The best way you can demonstrate your faith is by accepting what is. Life has a natural flow and it’s not always going to flow the way you like it to flow. People will disappoint you and loved ones will pass. It’s called life on its terms. Many people have a problem when life shows up. They would rather try to change what is than accept it. This only causes them more pain and problems. But acceptance gets you into the solution because it’s a profound wisdom that comes from God and it gives you insight to know the difference between what you can and cannot change.
Choose To be Grateful For What You Have
In life we are given many gifts. Sadly often it’s the gifts that people are grateful for more than the giver. When you choice to be grateful your emotional well-being and your spiritual health means more to you than material prosperity. You’re grateful for the peace of mind God have given you and you’re thankful He provided what was lacking in your life without Him; A loving relationship with self.
Choose To Pray About Everything
Praying is a direct line to God. His line is never busy and He won’t ever put you on hold. You can talk to Him at anytime and anywhere. The key to a prayer life is not what you say or how long you say it but how honest you are in what you’re praying about. The more honest you are in prayer the easier prayer becomes. As you honestly tells God about everything, He begins to clean you from the inside out. You find yourself no longer having to pretend to be someone you’re not and you’ll find yourself being honest with everyone you come in contact with. It will become a lifestyle so today start praying about everything and watch how the power of prayer transform your life.
Choose To Put God and Others Before Yourself
Putting others before yourself should start as soon as you wake. Your mind should be focused on how you can serve others. If you’re anything like I use to be you wake-up thinking about self. And if you’re not careful you can become obsess with self and that’s never good. But when you choose to put God and others before yourselves you live a happier stabled life because you’re balanced spiritually, emotionally and mentally. What more could you ask for right? The process for an abundance life can take place only as you learn to love others more than yourself.
Choose To Live In The Here and Now
Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. *Buddha*
The past and the future are things the mind creates. The above quote suggests we concentrate on the present moment because it takes a conscious mind to enjoy life. And life is only lived in the present. Living in the present is a war you win if you fight to the end by not judging what is. When you stop being critical of everything you begin to realize how beautiful life is, but that can only be experienced in the here and now.
Life-or-death is a decision we all have to make. God has given us the gift of free-will; the ability to make our own choices. Although life may not look promising to you at this time you have the choice to set your heart and mind to choose life. Oh how GOD wants you to choose life!
