We wake up every day into a blessing. Anxious before our feet hit the floor, our minds can only think of what’s next on our must do list. This makes us SICK! So what is the prescription to this self-inflicted sickness? Accepting Reality…
Similar to our ancestors not wanting to be enslaved by outside forces, we must not want to be enslaved from within. Being anxious about what we have to do is slavery. The Bible says so in Philippians 4:6:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God”
“Is it Live or is it Memorex”, http://youtu.be/1-IvTF0xUxM a commercial back in the 70’s with Ella Fitzgerald comes to mind when I’m trying to figure out life (I recognize that trying to figure out life or “What it is” is one of my many faults). Is our perception of life reality or is it a tape in our mind that’s built around judging others and myself? The Bible also goes on to say in John 16:33:
“Here on Earth you will have trails and sorrows”
But what it doesn’t say is that some of the trails and sorrows will be self-inflicted. Our internal reactions to certain events in our lives have distorted our perception.
Learning to get honest with ourselves is like sifting through garbage or like peeling back layers of an onion. But, it is the key to self-acceptance. And self-acceptance is the key to accepting others and reality.
