In my opinion most changes in people’s lives involve overcoming some sort of fear. God doesn’t allow us to go through difficult experiences for no reason. Fear is so deeply rooted in many people, that they’ll never experience the spiritual growth that God is trying to develop within them.
Even when their old ways of thinking causes them pain, they’ll still hold on to what they are familiar with. Change is how we move forward in life and fear is a tool the Devil uses to keep us from moving forward.
Examples include being afraid to end a relationship or to start a new career because of fear of the unknown.
The willingness to change your thinking is the only way to overcome your fears.
For God have not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7)
Fear Forfeits Your Place in Society
As far as I’m concern, being productive in society is your duty. Giving back to your community is one of the noblest actions one could do. But because of fear, some people will never reach their full potential.
Don’t be a person who think the gifts God gave you are for you only because the reality is that God blessed you to bless others.
In my case, I’m doing my best to bless others by writing this blog. Other people feed the homeless when they can. Even showing mercy to someone who has hurt you is a blessing.
Don’t be afraid to grow because if you can’t grow, society can’t grow. There shouldn’t be any fear when contemplating volunteering since God gave you those gifts for two reasons: one, to glorify Him and two, to teach others.
There are many reasons to believe that our world is literally falling apart. So when rebuilding a society action is necessary regardless of yours feelings or how many times you’ve prayed for a better world.
“Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged by the size of the task, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. He will see to it that all the work related to the Temple of the Lord is finished correctly.” (1 Chronicles 28:20)
It’s Natural being Fearful
Some people believe that it’s wrong to have fear. But fear is natural and can actually be healthy if used correctly.
For example, fear can warn you of danger or prompt you to be careful and/or alert. God gave you that mechanism. Fear that’s being harmful to you and the people around you is the fear you put in yourself based on your own beliefs. (Please read, Never Fear by my blogging friend Suzy.)
In it she discussed buried beliefs that people have are at the core of our fears keeping us from accepting reality.
When reality doesn’t match your beliefs fear sets in.
And all the people in that region begged Jesus to go away and leave them alone, for a great wave of fear swept over them. ( Luke 8:37)
Freedom not Fear
Fear keeps you from the present and the present is where freedom and peace live.
Fight the Devil for your freedom with forgiveness, humility, and truth. You must recognize when the Devil is trying to trick you into thinking your freedom is not within you. Understand that God and your freedom are inside of you.
Learn to forgive yourself and be truthful to yourself. Humble yourself by taking responsibility for your role in everything. You will then start to think in harmony and unity with God. Walk in the light of freedom and not in the shadows of fear.
There is a pattern to your life and the outline of that pattern is your thinking. Allow God to renew your mind, so you can start a new pattern of thinking. Learning to live life in a new way is difficult when you’ve have been manipulated by fear your entire life. So stop fearing your fellow-man and your circumstances, instead fear God and free yourself.
