It have been a long time since I had a drink of liquor and when I did drink back in the days, I wasn’t to fond of having a chaser after worth. I viewed it as being soft and as something girls and college students do.
The only thing I was chasing my liquor with was another glass of liquor. But that when I was full of pride and living in the world and of the world.
Today I live in the world but not of the world. I don’t just reads God’s Word then do what I want to do. I humble myself and eat His Word. And I find it not only being healthy for me but it have a nice taste too. “Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it.” So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth (Ezekiel 3:3).
Now just because something taste good don’t mean it will be easy to swallow and God’s Word is no different. Many Christians taste it and even chew on it but Jesus want us to swallow His Word and get full off it.
In my last post I offended some readers, just like Jesus did, when I talked about eating Jesus’ flesh. Then the people began arguing with each other about what he meant. “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” (John 6:52) I explained when we eat Jesus’s flesh we are applying His Word in all area of our lives. For example, while driving our cars and someone think it’s a good idea to cut us off we are to try our best to practice self-control. Eating His flesh is the action part of following Jesus.
In this post I will talk about chasing His flesh down by drinking His blood. Drinking Jesus’ blood is when we look inside ourselves and confess our faults and shortcoming. It’s when we allow Jesus to shine His light on those dark areas of our spirit and accept the truth about what we find. For my flesh is the true food, and my blood is the true drink ( John 6:55). The only way God can remove our sins is when we be honest with ourselves.
If you’re anything like me you’re an expert at self-deception, rationalizing, justifying and denial. All those are lies and we know who the father of lies is. But when we tell our self the truth, we allow God inside us where His blood can do some spiritual cleaning and remove all those dirty white lies and wash away our sins.
The truth (His blood) then flows deep into our souls looking for lies we told ourselves for years. Lies that go far back as our childhood. God no longer want us to hide from our past. His blood will heal our deepest embedded wounds and it will show our secrets we though we would never tell. The truth truly sets us free. Free from our self and our past.
When we drink Jesus’ blood we make Him the core of our being, spiritually, mentally and physically and feed our soul with the spiritual reality of His Word and His blood. We make Jesus and His teaching our life.
Christians are hungry and thirsty after God but many are eating baby food, microwave food and junk food. Drinking cool-aid and never quenching their thirst.
It’s time for Christians to eat some meat and potatoes. Things that will stick to our ribs and our soul. It’s time for us to eat Jesus’ flesh and drink Jesus’ blood because there’s nothing like the blood of Jesus.
